SKIN TAGS

What Are Skin Tags?

  • Skin tags are those annoying skin growths most commonly found on the neck, underarms and face. Or in areas of friction such as the underarm, groin, under the breasts or around the neck where necklaces may irritate.

  • They often appear with a neck like a mushroom and vary in size from a tiny speck, smaller than a grain of uncooked rice, to the size of a large pea or even larger. The growths can be identified by their appearance to “hang” off the skin like this one below: (image)

  • Removing them is a straight forward procedure where we cut and cauterise the skin tags using the heat from an electrolysis probe. The results are instant and normally all tags are removed in a single session

No Pain and No Scars!! Just smooth, growth free skin!

Your Questions, Answered

What happens during thread vein removal?

The tip of the finest, smallest probe  (about the size of an eyelash) is introduced along the line of the capillary and a tiny energy current is discharged. This ‘dries up’ and destroys the vessel which often disappears as it is being treated. Further treatments may be necessary depending on the severity of the problem.

Will my skin blemishes return?

The treated blemish will not return but others may occur depending on the root cause. Your skin specialist will advise you during your consultation.

After the hair has been treated, your Electrologist will gently remove (but NEVER tug on the hair with tweezers to gently remove it from the follicle – If the hair received enough treatment it will gently slide out. If the treatment was not performed correctly and the follicle did not receive the correct amount of current you will feel a tug, We would always advise that when looking for an Electrologist to be mindful of this. When all the hair has been removed from the treatment area, we will apply a soothing aftercare cream-gel to encourage the healing process to begin.

After repeated gradual treatment, over a period of months, more and more roots will be disabled resulting in hairs growing less and less until the hair follicles will be unable to grow again and permanent hair removal is achieved. Each hair requires repeated treatments in order to allow us to treat all hairs including those dormant in the follicles at the time of treatment. (Permanent destruction of the hairs can only occur while the hairs are in there “awake” state. We all have our own unique growing cycle. Results take a little time, so be patient.

How many treatments will I require?

Advanced Electrolysis Blemish  treatments are safe and effective and offer instant results in many cases. The length of treatment very much depends on the problem and your skin specialist will advise you of this during your initial consultation, after taking a look at your skin.  The area treatment must not be over-treated and your skin reactivity will be taken into account. Spacing techniques and treatment intervals will be carefully considered in a treatment plan by your electrolysis professional as well as taking into account your requirements, needs and wishes.

The most important thing, is to tell your electrologist how you are feeling. We have many years of experience practicing Electrolysis and we are glad to help ease any discomfort, if experience it. If you feel in any way uncomfortable during your treatment, we are able to adjust our electrolysis machine settings and lower or increase the current according to how you are feeling. We can also offer use of a numbing cream before treatment for any clients who may need it.

Visit our What to expect page for more information about electrolysis for hair removal.

How long will my skin blemish treatment take?

Treatment time will depend how big the lesion is and can take a minimum of 15 minutes. The price varies depending on the specific blemish, area. The skin specialist will be pleased to offer you a consultation and price estimate.
